Postcard from Brazil
Ola Plaza Rotarians,
My GSE trip to Brazil has been one of the most significant experiences of my life. Any time I have visited other countries I have made an effort to travel off the beaten path, in hopes of gaining more than just the tourist perspective. This exchange has offered me an unparalleled opportunity to be completely immersed in the “Gaucho” culture of southern Brazil. I have had heart wrenching conversations with the family and friends of victims of the nightclub fire in Santa Maria. I learned how to play handball with the children of Paul Harris School in Santa Rosa. I have even discussed cutting edge cancer research being performed at a small hospital in Ijui; albeit, some of this conversation flew over my head! I will forever cherish the friendships and memories from my visit to Rio Grande do Sul and look forward to returning and sharing more about the experience with all of you. Thanks again for this opportunity!
